Why I'm not offended by women wearing a burka (and a solution)

It's a bit far fetched to say a burka is a security risk.
I've never been attacked by anyone in a burka and not heard of anyone else being harmed in any way by someone wearing such items of clothing.
If there was a health and safety issue (working with machinery, that's different). If I had a choice of whether or not to see someone's face, then yes I rather would, but I'm not offended by a woman who wanted to wear one. I wouldn’t feel the same if they only wore one out of pressure from their men folk.

If we are talking about an area where security is important - like airports - then searches are undertaken as normal, so this seems to be more a prejudice issue rather than a security issue.

Maybe if more people wore a burka there would be less trouble on a night out (where the vast majority of violence happens). There would be no confronting accusations from someone saying "Oye are you giving me a dirty look!"

I'm as patriotic as anyone - I love Britain and cheering on Brits at the Olympics and support the England football team etc, but embrace other cultures too.
I'd hate to live off Ploughman's Lunch and Spam sandwiches forever! We couldn't even eat fish n' chips without the help of a foreign potato.

I like the Native American Indian outlook - whereby nobody can own the land, we just roam on it for a very short and temporary period.
I don't see other countries as different land - it's the same land, it just has some water on top of it in between.

Besides, the true natives of England are not even English! They were Celts. Our ancestors are from the rest of Europe - Normans, Saxons, Vikings and Romans - from areas we know as France, Germany, Scandanavia and Italy etc)
In a few generations time people wearing Burkas will have more English blood in them than the most far right, fanatical bulldog owning, John Smith drinking, fish n' chip eating, burberry wearing geezer there is here and now.

I can understand the cultural and religious reasons behind a woman hiding herself from men, but maybe a better idea is this…
If anyone has ever been connected to any kind of grooming gang or guilty of any sexual or indecent crime – make these men wear a bell for a few years (and for life for 2 offenses). Then when women hear the bells – they put up their burka until the coast is clear!
